OVERDRIVE

Sunday, July 30, 2006 by Frank

I’m back! Yeah I know it’s been a while since my last entry. I’ve been pretty busy with gigs everyday of the workweek. As much as I’ve wanted to update my blog, the few moments that I have not performing I try to get as much sleep and rest as I can.

As I said I’ve been gigging a lot. This week alone I had eight gigs in the span of five days. Three of them all took place yesterday; how’s that for busy? I don’t get much reprieve on the weekends either. Tonight is actually my first Saturday night free. I’m supposed to be at Capone’s right now with Mitch and Angela. I’m just waiting for the rain to let up (commuting in the rain is a bitch). At least I won’t be playing tonight.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m thankful that I get to play drums and cajon as much as I do. I’m also thankful that I get paid to do it. It’s just that right now all the late nights are taking its toll on my body. I need time to recharge.

DIAMOND DOGS

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 by Frank

We have a new member of the family; a new puppy. His name is Judas. We got him last Sunday. He’s half pit bull and half mongrel. That makes him….mongrel I guess. He’s adjusting well to his new surroundings. Wicca, our other dog, has taken him as her own. They’re inseparable now.

ON THE COUCH

by Frank

Funny, these past few days I’ve been so caught up in World Cup fever (go Italy!) that I now understand all the satires about women becoming “widows” during American football games. Granted the sports are different, the reactions are the same. Guys are just so focused on what’s happening on screen, nothing else matters. It’s as if you peel your eyes away from the game for a split-second, you might miss some all too important event.

Last night at Fiama I experienced this to its full extent. While watching the Italy vs. Germany game (go Italy!), people were talking to me. I’d just glance at them for a bit; reply while looking at the screen. It’s rude I know, but at a time like that I guess it’s more of the norm.

On a side note, Italy won and is through to the finals. They’ll be going up against either France or Portugal (go Italy!). We’ll find out later who.
